I worked alongside a Creative Director for a week on this fast paced agency pitch in 2016. eBay had supplied the logo and the concept requirements, and it was our job to take it from there - and impress them with what we could do.
Unlike designing for 'real life', the ultimate goal of this pitch work was on creating slick and sexy screens, with a lot of impact and wow factor...rather than being mindful of the details / user experience / or taking into consideration any technical constraints which would normally take priority.
A premium storefront aesthetic was created using large, beautiful imagery and well crafted typographic layouts. Using a very refined and minimal colour palette, ensured a clean UI which could support very different brand expressions.
No. Unfortunately we lost. However, this was a really great project for me personally.
With only a logo as a starting point and the fast paced nature of pitch work, I had to up my game. I had to be more decisive and less precious over my designs and ideas. Initially the process was very quick and dirty. Ideas were rapidly mocked-up, and then just as quickly they would be trashed and we'd move on and try something else, until we were headed, we thought, in the right direction.
